Olecranon Bursitis

Olecranon bursitis canresult from trauma, infection, hemorrhage, rheumatic disease, or gout. In a series of 25 cases reported by Ho et al, 40% of patients had no identifiable preceding trauma or infection. It is important not to miss the diagnosis of infectious bursitis because of the complications associated with untreated infections such as bacteremia, sepsis, and permanent bursa damage.
