Patellar/Quadriceps Tendon Rupture
Background
Patellar and quadriceps tendon ruptures occur infrequently. The patellar tendon, which is actually a ligament, tends to rupture in younger athletic patients, whereas the quadriceps tendon ruptures more frequently in older patients with chronic disease, such as DM, SLE and multiple steroid injections.
