Wrist Case 9 Diagnosis

Most fractures can be seen on the AP view of standard wrist films. If there is still concern for a fracture despite negative standard views, obtain oblique views as well as carpal tunnel views (wrist extension, Xray beam angled 25 degrees from the source). If a hamate fracture is still suspected, CT scan can be ordered in the ED or the patient can be splinted and referred for it as an outpatient.
